THE THIRD NOBLE TRUTH
Nirodha: The Cessation of Dukkha
Summary
-
There is liberation, freedom from suffering, from the continuity of dukkha.
-
To eliminate dukkha one has to eliminate its main root, thirst (tanha.)
-
What is Nirvava?
-
Absolute Truth, Ultimate Reality.
-
Extinction of thirst (for five aggregates of attachment).
-
Extinction of desire, hatred, illusion.
-
Calming of all conditioned things.
-
Nirvava is not
-
self annihilation, since self is an illusion. What is compared to a flame
gone out is the 'being' composed of the five aggregates.
-
negative, because negative and positive are relative, yet Nirvava is Absoulte
Truth, non-duality; it can't be expressed adequately in words. e.g. infinite
vs. finite.
-
the result of anything (?) Truth is, Nirvana is.
-
Nirvana can be realized in this very life. He who realized Nirvava is the
happiest being in the world. ... He fully lives in the present. Therefore
he appreciates and enjoys things in the purest sense without self-projection.
