張錫宏的從政心路
張錫宏菩提學會演講
歷史上，人類在不斷解決問題的同時，往往創造了更多的問題。這個世界有政治、地理、種族、經濟及所有一切的分歧。強調這種分歧，只能滋長對立和仇恨；但漠視這個已經存在的分歧是否也使我們的心智愈來愈腐敗、老化、沉重與遲鈍？
張錫宏有一顆厚植的雄心，是個敢在舊環境的牢籠中挑戰社會制度的少數華裔政治領袖。他跨過了文化間的鴻溝，走過自我思想與行動間的差距，默默耕耘，終於在十二年後，喚醒了美籍華人的政治參與熱忱。他是以一個什麼樣的生命態度，使生活、政治與文化互相包容，互相聯結？
在南灣生活的美籍華人們，對他的個人成就及從政路程，有如下簡短的認知與推薦：
Michael S. Chang, Ph.D.
Former Mayor, City of Cupertino
Department Chairman, De Anza College
Dr. Michael Chang served in elected public office for 12 years, serving as
school board president and two terms as mayor of Cupertino. An immigrant from
Hong Kong, he is considered a trailblazer for Asian American civic participation
in Silicon Valley. His public service accomplishments include leading a
successful effort to build a new library and opening of an alternative school
with a science and technology focus. Dr Chang continues to promote civic
participation in his current position as department chairman and executive
director of the Asian Pacific American Leadership Institute (APALI) at De Anza
College. Dr. Chang's many awards include resolutions from the U.S. House of
Representatives and the California state Legislature, American Leadership Forum,
Rotary International, Fulbright Commission, Stanford University, De Anza College
World Journal Daily, and Committee of 100. He received his Ph.D. in education
policy from Stanford University in 1988.
